Yes, you want as much processing juice as possible since you will be on laptop that isn't upgradeable in the graphics dept.

Max will work fine on a MBP. Though you probably won't want to do really heavy scenes. A laptop still doesn't replace a workstation with a high-end graphics card.

I'm thinking of buying either:
13" MAcBook pro
2.53 ghz
4G memory
nvidia geforce 9400m graphics card
or
15" MacBook pro
2.66ghz
4gb memory
nvidia geforce 9400gt w/256 mb graphics card

I will be doing small to medium work on 3d max. Is the extra processingspeed and graphics card necessary? Can the 13" MacBook pro perform for 3d max?

Thanks!

hm i ran into this in Novenber 2009. on my computer it is now:
Plug in your monitor, open System Preferences, go to Displays, and select the tab called Arrangement. there are the two desktops and below is a check mark called Mirror Displays.

i haven't seen it with my own eyes, but i think u can do a Multiple Selection simply with the command key. If not i suppose the author would have mentioned it (i picked the issue from a comment). But final clarification would be appreciated. So please anyone just say 'Yes' or 'No'!
thanx in advance

This is the only place I can find with mention to the multiple selection question. I'm absolutely dying for a solution to this problem; 3ds Max is near unusable for me when I don't have access so such functionality.

Also, know that edit mesh doesn't have any record of its neighbouring vertices, edges and faces (triangles).
It means that the faces are there alone without any kind
of idea of what its neighbours are, if they have 4, 5, 6 sides
and so on. That happens because the Edit Mesh works only with triangles. The Edit Poly came exactly to maximize your selection
options as well as your poly modeling options.

The polygons in Edit Poly in its core are made of triangles because thats the base of all the polygons. I.E. a side of a cube is made of 2 triangles.
The Edit Poly know what all the neighours are (if it is a square with 4 sides, a pentagon with 5, a hexagon with 6, and so on) so it is easier to select and make sub object modeling because it knows which vertices, edges and polygons are neighbouring each other and can make selections all around, by edge loops or rings.

Sorry for being too wordy... -__-"

"... all, the only thing that is making me crazy is that i CANT select multiple polygons by holding the Ctrl key down, because it brings me up a menu as if I was right clicking… Has anyone had this issue? Does someone know how to solve it?"

VERY GOOD QUESTION!!! i also really need to know, before i start. Multiple selections are essential.
